Printing, scanning, copying from the pharos print system

Windows - 64-bit or 32-bit?


You should download the appropriate version of software depending on whether your Windows laptop is running 64-bit or 32-bit operating system.

To find out what your laptop is running:

  • From your Desktop, click the Windows logo Windows button
  • Type the word System
  • Click System icon

Next to System Type it should tell you whether your laptop is running 64-bit or 32-bit operating system

You can also find this information by going to Control Panel and clicking on the System icon button



Please note: You will need to install, at your own risk, some software on your computer by following the instructions as shown.

You will need administrator rights to install software on your computer.

Windows 64-Bit

Download Windows 64-bit 

Download Windows 32-bit

Ensure you are downloading the correct version. See left-hand menu for help with this.

Your downloaded file will be called 'IALS-print-W64' or 'IALS-print-W32'. This file can be usually be found in your ‘Downloads’ folder.


Install the software

  • Double-click the file to begin installation
  • A warning window may pop up – click Yes to accept
  • A package installer window will pop up. Click Install
  • Once the package has installed click Finish

You should now be able to print from your laptop to the printers at IALS. The software will have installed two printers on your laptop, 'IALS-public on' will print to the 4th floor printers and 'IALS-floor L2 printer on' will print to the copier/printer on floor L2. You will need to select the appropriate printer when sending the print job.
