About the IALS Wireless Network
IALS Wireless Network (wIALS)
The WiFi service at the IALS provides free wireless access to the Internet from laptops, phones and tablets. Access to wireless is available throughout the building using the security-enabled uol-open and IALS Lib wireless networks.
IALS has two wireless networks: uol-open for Internet only access for temporary card holders and Institute visitors, and IALS Lib for Internet and e-resources access for academic library members who hold permanent (plastic) cards.
What do I Need?
All you need to connect is a valid library card. Provisional card holders cannot use wireless but can connect to the Internet using an internet cable obtained from staff at the Library Enquiry desk on the 4th floor.
How Do I Connect to wIALS from My Laptop?
For Window laptops, notebooks and Apple devices, login details are supplied with your library card. This makes it easy and fast to connect. This applies also to Apple devices.
The connection is remembered by your laptop so next time you visit the IALS, you automatically log into the network without any further configuration needed.
Remember, if you do experience any difficulties, please always ask staff at the Issue & Enquiry desk on the 4th floor for extra help or advice.
Can I Connect from My Phone or Tablet?
Connection is not limited to laptops. If you have a mobile phone or tablet, you can connect and use wireless. In most cases connection is quick and easy.
