Content
Index to Legal Periodicals and Books covers more than 1,025 law periodicals and more than 23,000 books. The majority are US publications, but ILPB also indexes titles from Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and elsewhere.
For each periodical article, ILPB provides an abstract, key words, subject headings, author/s, title, citation and other information. A list of all the periodicals indexed is available at the top of the screen, under ‘Publications’. ILPB does not include full-text articles, but because it is on the EBSCO platform some records have links to the full article in other EBSCO databases, such as Academic Search Complete.
For each book, ILPB provides subject headings, author/s, title, publication date and other bibliographic details.
Searching
Basic and advanced search facilities are available. Boolean connectors (AND, OR, NOT) can be used in both types of search. Search results can be filtered by type of source (e.g. Academic Journals), subject, language, date, publication title and other criteria.
Advanced search allows you to search by subject, word in title, author, case mentioned (select ‘Court Case’), legislation mentioned (select ‘Statute’) and many other criteria, and to set a date range.
Browsing
To browse by year, author, subject and other criteria, select ‘Indexes’ (at the top). Use the ‘Add’ button to insert a term from one of the indexes into the search bar.
Help
Click on ‘Help’ at the top or on the question mark (?) buttons to open the Help window. Most of the information covers all EBSCO databases, but there is a section about ILPB at the end.
Printing, downloading and emailing
After opening an index record, you will see icons for printing, saving and emailing on the right-hand side.
To print, save or email multiple records, select from the list of search results by clicking on the blue folder icons marked ‘+’ (to the right), which adds them to the folder at the top of the screen. Open the folder, then select Print, Email or Save.
Tips for saving files: after selecting 'Save', click on the Save button, then use your internet browser's download function:-
