Description

International Courts of General Jurisdiction is a module of the online service, Oxford Reports on International Law (ORIL). It consists of cases from the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of International Justice, the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and the Permanent Court of Arbitration.

Access
International Courts of General Jurisdiction (ICGJ) is available onsite and offsite to all academic members of IALS Library.

To view the ICGJ module only, select ‘Browse all content in ICGJ’. Alternatively, click on the ‘Browse all’ button at the top of the screen, then select ICGJ from the Module menu on the left.

Content
International Courts of General Jurisdiction covers all contentious and advisory cases from the International Court of Justice and Permanent Court of International Justice, together with the decisions of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and Permanent Court of Arbitration.

Searching and browsing
To search the ICGJ module only, select it by clicking on ‘Browse all content in ICGJ’ (see above), then enter key words in ‘Search within results’.

The Search and Advanced Search options at the top of the screen do not allow users to specify a particular module. However, Advanced Search facility may be used to search the whole ORIL service ('This site') by jurisdiction, subject and/or other criteria.

Select ICGJ by via ‘Browse all content in ICGJ’ or ’Browse all' (see above). You can then browse within the module, by jurisdiction, subject, type of case (international court decision or arbitration case), state party and/or date, using the filters on the left.

Reading and downloading
Content on ORIL, including the ICGJ module, can be read online in HTML format. An accessible PDF copy of the content can also be read and downloaded by selecting the ‘Download PDF’ icon. There are also options here to print, email and save.

Help and FAQs are available via a link at the top of the screen. The information provided applies to the entire ORIL service, not to ICGJ specifically.
