International Law in Domestic Courts is a module of the online service, Oxford Reports on International Law (ORIL), produced by Oxford University Press. It contains decisions from around seventy jurisdictions, with commentary.
Access
International Law in Domestic Courts (ILDC) is available onsite and offsite to all academic members of IALS Library.
Content
ILDC module contains cases from around seventy different jurisdictions. Each case comes with scholarly analysis. Judgments are in the original languages, with translations of key extracts from non-English judgments into English.
To access ILDC from the ORIL homepage, click on ‘Browse All’. Under ‘Product’, on the left, select ORIL, then ILDC.
Searching and browsing
Once you have selected the ILDC module on the 'Browse All' screen (see above), enter key words in ‘Search within results’.
The Search and Advanced Search options at the top of the screen do not allow users to specify a particular module, but the Advanced Search facility may be used to search the whole of ORIL by jurisdiction, subject and other criteria.
After selected the ILDC module (see above), users can browse by jurisdiction, subject, type of case (international court decision or arbitration case), state party and/or date.
Reading and downloading
Content on ORIL, including the ILDC module, can be read online in HTML format. An accessible PDF copy of the content can also be read and downloaded by selecting the ‘Download PDF’ icon. There are also options here to print, email and save.

Help and FAQs are available via a link at the top of the screen. The information provided applies to the entire ORIL database, not just to the ILDC module.
