OpenDOAR is a global directory of academic open access online repositories.
OpenDOAR is a global directory of open access online repositories. It started as a collaborative project by the University of Nottingham in the UK and Lund University in Sweden.
Access
OpenDOAR is a freely accessible resource.
Content
OpenDOAR lists online repositories based at universities and some other institutions in more than 130 different countries. The repositories contain journal articles, book chapters, theses, dissertations, working papers, conference papers, datasets and/or other material. All disciplines are covered.
Each repository record gives a link to the repository, lists its content types and the subjects covered, and specifies the software used. It also gives information about the university or other organisation to which the repository belongs.
The OpenDOAR site also provides a self-assessment tool for repositories, model open access repository policies and FAQs about online repositories.
Browsing
The list of repositories can be browsed by country.
Searching
Searching by repository name is the default option.
The Advanced Search facility supports searches by name of repository, name of organisation, country and/or region. There are options to select the type of discipline (Arts, Social Sciences, Science, et cetera), the content type (journal articles, theses, et cetera) and other criteria.
