Content
IALS subscribes to journals in the law collection, which includes over 20 titles. The individual journals to which the library subscribes can also be found via the library catalogue.
Searching and browsing
Journals can be browsed via the homepage, which allows you to filters by subject. There is a filter that can be applied to show only subscribed content ('Only show content I have full access to').
There is also a basic search is available from the home screen. There is an option for advanced search which gives the added possibility of specifying search criteria by title, author or keyword. Once you have run a search, you will have to choose the filter 'Only show content I have full access to' again to ensure you are only seeing results from journals to which IALS Library subscribes.
Reading and downloading
Individual journal articles can be read online in HTML format. There is a ‘webReader menu' which allows several options for changing the display of the text on screen. By selecting this menu, and then choosing ‘Text Mode’, you can change the font, size, and background colour. There is an on screen reading ruler ‘Page Mask’ available to use.
There is also a built-in text to speech reader called ReadSpeak which can be used to read the text aloud. The audio can be downloaded as an mp3 file.
Additionally, articles are available to read online in accessible PDF and EPUB formats, where there are also some options for changing the display including font size and alignment. The content in PDF and EPUB formats can be downloaded.

The platform provides a number of built-in accessibility features including a text to speech reader and a ‘Text Mode’ which allows the display of text to changed in various ways including OpenDyslexic font as well as different coloured fonts and backgrounds.
